Ford, Henry, and Samuel Crowther. My Life and Work,. Garden City, NY: Doubleday, 1922. This is Henry Ford's autobiography. It gave me a lot of information about his early life, his creation of the Model T and assembly line, and his thoughts on labor and marketing.

This website contains excerpts from a 1919 Model T car manual which tells owners how to drive and fix the car. It also includes price lists for replacement parts for 1909-1919 models. It shows that the car was made to be sturdy, easy to drive and maintain. It can be read by middle school students.
Revaz, Willard. President of the Connecticut Crankin’Yanks. He sent me many pictures of his club’s cars.
Shilde, Milton. Historian of the Rickenbacher Car Club. He answered many questions, including why the Model T was so successful, but the Rickenbacher Car was not.
Smith, Peter. Model T owner and President of the Four Seasons Model T Association. He answered many questions, gave me research materials, and best of all, a ride in his 1926 Model T.
Wilcox, Erin Milbeck. Education Specialist at The Henry Ford. She answered many questions and recommended research materials through e-mails.

This book was written for historians and car enthousiasts; this edition was printed for Ford employees, and can be read by middle school students and above.

This book taught me about Henry Ford's life, inspirations, innovative successes and failures. It focused on Ford's impact on society of making automobiles accessible to the common person, increasing the living wage of the working class, and transforming the manufacturing process for all consumer products. This book is understandable for grades 8 and up.
